Before fitting a mirror, the surface needs proper preparation to ensure correct adhesion and lasting stability.
Preparation Requirements
The surface must be thoroughly cleaned with alcohol to remove grease, dust and other contaminants.
The substrate must be completely free of dust before any materials are applied.
Where appropriate, the surface should be lightly scuffed to improve adhesion.
Installation must take place in a clean, dust-free environment.
Correct surface preparation is essential for adhesives to perform properly and to minimise the risk of mirror failure.
Mirrors must be fitted using the right combination of fixing materials to ensure a safe, secure result.
Installation Method
Silicone adhesive alone is not a suitable fixing method.
Mirrors should be fitted using both quality double-sided tape and silicone adhesive together.
The tape gives immediate support while the silicone cures.
Silicone Application
Silicone should be applied evenly across the surface.
Coverage must reach at least 80% of the mirror backing.
Even application supports proper bonding and reduces the risk of movement or failure.
Using the correct combination of fixing materials is essential for a safe mirror installation.
