c: Tower Glass (Bournemouth) Ltd provides guidance on the installation of mirrors; however, the responsibility for correct installation lies solely with the installer and/or contracting company carrying out the work.

  1. Use of Silicone: Silicone adhesive must not be used as the sole method of adhering mirrors to backing boards or surfaces.
  2. Assembly Area:  Silicone/double-sided tape must be applied in a dust free, extracted clean room.
  3. Required Method: Mirrors must be installed using a combination of high-quality double-sided tape and silicone adhesive. The tape is required to provide immediate hold while the silicone cures.
  4. Application Standard:  the surface should be cleaned with alcohol, dust free and scuffed for adhsion. When applying silicone, it must be spread evenly to cover at least 80% of the surface area to ensure correct adhesion and to minimise the risk of mirror failure.
  5. Installer Responsibility: It is the sole responsibility of the installer/company to ensure that correct installation methods are followed, including suitability of the substrate, correct surface preparation, and compliance with all health & safety standards.
